Each year, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) conducts its International Roadcheck, a three-day initiative where CVSA-certified inspectors target several areas of motor vehicle, carrier, and driver safety.
This year’s CVSA International Roadcheck will be held from May 14-16, and will focus on two areas:

Every commercial motor vehicle with an air brake system for towing a trailer must be equipped with a tractor protection system consisting of a tractor protection valve, trailer supply valve, and anti-bleed back valve. All valves will be properly tested during the International Roadcheck inspection.

Controlled substance and alcohol possession by commercial motor vehicle drivers has been a major concern, after a steady increase in the number of prohibited drivers in the U.S. Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse (DACH). This alarming trend poses a threat to all motorists on our roadways.
During the inspection for alcohol possession or controlled substances, the inspector will:
Create and enforce clear policies to prevent controlled substance and alcohol possession or use in the workplace.
Regularly check the DACH to ensure your drivers are clear to drive.
Do not possess or use alcohol or other controlled substances during or prior to duty. Remember, you are prohibited from having any detectable presence of alcohol and cannot use alcohol within four hours of coming on duty.
